FULL GAMEPLAY VIDEO
Made as part of my Games Prototyping Module in my second year at University of Staffordshire, Tide and Seek is a stealth game about a cuttlefish trying to save his Dad from a gang of sharks.
I used the C# Language within Unity to create the mechanics, including using scriptable objects as part of my cutscene system.
Inspired by Games such as Another Crabs Treasure and Hotline Miami. Tide and Seek was developed over the course of 5 week long sprints, it required lots of fast iterations within that time.
Key Design Decisions:
- Levels have high enemy density to allow gameplay focus to be correct timing of hide ability and positioning.
- Fast enemy detection time and chasing movement speed to put the focus on staying unseen, not allowing many opportunities for the player to get away.
- Bite-sized levels and instant restarts to create fast paced, trial and error style puzzle-like gameplay similar to Hotline Miami.
